Thanks for your help.I managed to revert to gingerbread 2.3.6.The others' method were complicated.Yours is simple and a breeze.
There isn't any ROM for o2-uk. Any ideas?
Fred - I used the CPW rom to reinstate Gingerbread on my Orange-UK Note and it worked fine. Beware however that all Apps were deleted and had to be reinstalled so took a while.
Since these are Samsung stock roms the flash counter will not increase, right?
@Fred I'm working on your request...
Did you read the below comment ? Have you tried the CPW rom ?
what windows we must use to downgrade this firmware? is it win 7 or it must downgrade with win xp?

Hello, just a question last eek ik received my SGnote on 4.0.3 first i was happy.... after 2 hours i deceided to go on recovery with the hard reset option with Android. Seemed ok, but still heating and battery problems, then i deceided to go back in firmware 2.3.6, i downloaded a official samsung rom from Samfirmware.com. After install with ODIN it went wrong . . . big troubles. Tomorrow i will receive a new GSnote, probably with 4.0.3 preinstalled, Should i try another downgrade with ODIN because i think that the reason it went wrong was my first initial hard reset and got me the emmc bug with it. Happy to hear from you.
help!
followed all the steps by my SG note is still on 4.0.3..
Thank you very much, all procedure went smooth and I am back on Gingerbread.
Hello,I am from Romania and I am having problems with my Gnote...when i try to enter the download mode, first it gives me a warning and then if i press ok to continue it shows me the AndroLogo and down it writes dowloadin do not turn of target..up i have odin mode and by custom binary download it says NO...i dont no what to do so please help!!! ASAP
I am on ICS and have the emmc bug (0x19), is this method safe? I would like to try ICS 4.04 and think I have to go back to GB first because of the emmc bug. Could you advise if this is correct, or is there an easier way? Thanks in advance.
@vasiu ! thats download mode...it is used when u r flashing Rom on ur note....if u rnote isnt getting.detecting.in note.....first completely close the kies software.from taskmanager. .kill the process totally..c that nothing related to kies runs !! then turn off the debugging mode....hope.this helps...
@ peter...where does ur note belong to...if u r on germany ics...dowbgrade using the above process by downloading the 2.3.6 firmware....and if u want to try unofficial ics 4.0.4....with eMMC bug...u shud be more careful..n shud nt delete big files or root or flash other roms.....
/\/€○†@/\/\e Thanks a lot...finally i did it...with all the stress i had that i bricked my phone ...finally i managed to do it exactly like you said..so i ow you a lot...thank very much..and you are a genius:D..God bless you!

Im running 4.0.4 at the moment and are still getting the charging Icon up even though phone is disconnected. I had been on 4.0.3 and I believe that this upgrade from 2.3.6 was the cause, Is there a fix? Im going to downgrade back to 2.3.6 and hopefully that fixes it but have read that 4.0.3 fault may have damaged a charging monitor chip. Any comments?
nope....no problem in ur GT-N7000 there are numerous bugs in ICS.....samsung needs fix them.....
Hey again...i have a problem my mom bought yesterday a samsung galaxy SI...I am from Romania, and the phone is blocked on Orange network..how can i unblock it to work for example on another network..Please very much who nows send me an email on vasiu.andrei@yahoo.com with the solution for that...please..and thank you
I upgraded my Galaxy note to Android 4.0.3 and after update i found that my voice is not going to caller in speaker mode as well as with headset. in normal mode it works fine. Is it due to upgrade or my device has problem. I am going to downgrade it back to gingerbread. Any comments?
Is this method save ? Or do i have to fear a hard brick ?
this is the only safest method to downgrade from ics to gb
better to downgrade coz ics has loads of bugs in it..so may be..this one too may be a bug
there is only one solution...you have to take the device to some mobile repairing and software shop....they have the specific softwares for unlocking the device...it is not possible for u to unlock it manually !!!
may i know which Odin 1.85 should i download from the filecrop site as there are so many of them but not all links are working. plus the size are different too. appreciate your help. tks

hey im getting lots of problems after downgrading, i get all the time "the application Calendar storage(process com.android.providers.calendar) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I downloaded the swiss version.
I have to force close it but after 2 seconds the message comes back
and also the process android.process.acore has stopped bla bla bla...
try "wipe factory data " i mean..reset the phone
do the option "wipe data/factory reset" ?
that worked thnx :)
One more question...um my android market doesent want to update to play store, any idea?
it will update...try again....
anyway, other than a few minor issues that are fixed if you follow the instructions, this works very well and thnx. ICS was really a pain in the butt and now being back on GB feels like heaven
when i finished to downgrade from ics to gb using this method, i cant use the internet. i mean when i activate data network, it doesnt work and there is no icon that data network is on. can you help me?
Really thankful
Itz done nicely
hi ivan...first check.whether the data network modebis activated or not..by holding.the power button for 2 seconds...if yes..then. ....it means this is one of.the glitch of.gb on ur device.... try "wipe factory reset" it will help..
Are there any risks of phone being bricked in the process of the downgrade?
no ! there is no risk.as we are flashing the ORIGINAL firmware...there is no chance of brick if the instructions are properly followed
ok thanks and I will get back to you if it works.
When I extracted the Gingerbread firmware, I got this file N7000XXLC1_N7000XXLB2_N7000CPWLB2_HOME.tar.md5 (850MB)and another dll and the instruction says I should use N7000XXLC1_N7000XXLB2_N7000CPWLB2_HOME.tar.md5. Do I just leave the dll file or I will have to use it?
dll file is of no use...extract the md5 or tar file and when u open odin..it will give u the option of pda...there u just need the md5.tar file
Hi I just finished the downgrade process and its done except that on the me screen it keeps telling me application calender storage process failed and force closes. How can I fix that?
go to recovery mode and WIPE USER DATA. .. U LL lose the applications..but the data is nt lost....this is because...of this Google Frame work error...to solve it..there is only one solution power off... vol up + home button +power. .. then when u go into recorvery mode... wipe user data....
I think I caused the problem. My phone came with the XEU (Europe) version and instead of me downgrading to that version, I downgraded to the Carphone Warehouse Gingerbread firmware version. Is it possible for me to fix that? I mean can I change it to the XEU version?
yep u can.again follow the same.process with XEU firmware...
Ok thank you. I will do that now
:) we risked our device so that you people.do not.get problems..thank you
My did not pass but failed n now im not able to switch on my mobile.,:(...it says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue and not at all starting..wat to do?

Hi,
Thanks for the clear instructions and help. I reached your page looking for a solution to fix my Galaxy Note that is stuck on the glowing Samsung logo after booting.
Long story short, this happened after I 'unrooted' from CM10 preview 3 ROM to official ICS 4.0.4 ROM using mobile odin. It completed successfully but I guess since data/cache partitions were not clean, so the device is stuck on booting. Due to eMMC bug, I am afraid to do this through stock recovery of ICS 4.0.4, hence looking at downgrading to Gingerbread 2.3.6, as I have read the bug doesn't affect Gingerbread ROMs. I know this is somewhat off topic, but can you recommend downgrading to 2.3.6 with the device in its current state as I described?
Many thanks.
Sir ! glad that u expected a solution from us :) we have 2 solutions for u 1. If u want to downgrade to 2.3.6.. u can..there are no chances for brick if u flash the Original firm ware of ur Note..i.e of thw contry frok where u bought the Note...from.the firmware link given above.. but once u downgrade..You ll get this GOOGLE FRAMEWORK ERROR wich will.not allow u to access or set up ur device.....for that u have to switch ur device and to go.to recovery mode(vol up + home + power ) and from then u have to WIPE USER DATA this will allow u to setup.ur device and will be error free...but u ll lise ur applications. .just the applications installed..not the data.....
2. If u want to be on the official 4.0.4 u can do.the same WIPE USER DATA process to remove those Errors and hang ups u r getting in ur device Now
lose*
First thing u do.is Wipe Cache partition...If this doesnt work....try wipe user data...that shud work..If it doesnt....then DOWNGRADE IS THE ONLY SOLUTION... thank u..
hoping for ur reply
Hi /\/€○†@/\/\e,
Many thanks for your prompt response. What you have suggested is clear and makes sense. In my case, I don't care about losing installed applications. My first choice would be to avoid downgrade to 2.3.6. The problem is that I'm afraid of (and confused about) eMMC wipe brick bug affecting ICS ROMs, otherwise I would have booted into recovery of current official ICS 4.0.4 and cleared the data/cache already. But as I see that you are suggesting doing the same in option 2, do you think wiping in this manner is safe? Otherwise, I will be forced to downgrade to 2.3.6 just to wipe data/cache and get the device to boot (hopefully), as articles on internet suggest that Gingerbread ROMs are not affected by the wipe bug.
Thanks for your help.
i think. wiping will be safe..bcoz..neither ur device is rooted..nor is it on custom rom... nor. it is on CWM..the brick bug mainly arises due to rooted cwm devices who try to delete big files... SO.. WIPING USER DATa will fix ur device iA. .. Dont worry n try..but keep in mind thay the FIRMWARE now in ur NOTE shud be official... i.e if it is indian note..then the firmware shud be indian. .if uk note then uk firmware n so on...
or if u dont wanna take risk..u can downgrade to 2.3.6..but anyhw u ll have to wipe user data Then...
if u r confused then better. downgrade. n then again flash ics .. keep in mind ur device is UNROOTED and CLOCK WORK MOD is completely removed coz erase.dat and cwm.zip are the main files that r causing the brick.... hope this helps...
safest way....100 % working... downgrade to 2 3 6..then wipe user data..then...u ll automatically get ICS vie kies or over the air....
Thanks for the clarifications. I have a European/UK Galaxy Note GT-N7000. When I unrooted from CM10 using mobile odin lite, I used the N7000XXLRG 4.0.4-N7000DBTLRG (Open Germany) stock ROM. Since the device got stuck at glowing logo, I used PC Odin 1.85 to flash N7000XXLRK 4.0.4-N7000XEULP5 (United Kingdom/Ireland) as I thought this would fix it, but obviously it didn't. When I am download mode, it says that I am running Samsung official firmware. Also, I see a red triangle instead of yellow, so I guess the device is indeed unrooted and back to stock ICS 4.0.4 without CWM.
I guess I should take the safest route and flash N7000XXLA6 2.3.6 N7000XEULA1 (United Kingdom/Ireland) using PC Odin, then boot in to reocvery to wipe cache/data and it should be fine.
Thanks for all your help.
perfect :)
Hi, can GB play HD games? Such NFS shift, Real racing 2, Dead trigger ect. Bacause ICS can't play HD games. And planning to downgrade to GB. Thx
Nope many of the HD games are incompatible with samsung galaxy note !
If i check the repartition will there be any problem except data loss.... Actually after upgrade to 4.04 only 8 Gb of inter memory is showing. Will this problem be solved after this down grade.
that may be bcoz ur user data may b available... go to my files and check what all stuff is there..coz if u upgrade from 2.3 6 to 4.0.3 or 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 the data is nt lost until u factory data reset ur device may be thats y its showin only 8 gb....
my note is showing all full 11.4 gb space on 4.0.4
In my opinion that is not the case as it shows about 8 GB even after format i think it is a bug full memory is not being shown. some people more on net have reported similar problems after 4.04 update as 1. more pressure required for stylus to write 2. little weak sound while playing movies. 3.memory loss of about 3 GB. same is with mine. Therefore i wanted to down grade with partition frame checked.
try at ur own risk..... but take back up
Hi,thanks again for the reply. But I have watch people in youtube playing HD games on their galaxy note without problems. I did ask them, but they won't reply anything and i just read the comment of them and some people said i need to do rooting. Will rooting harm the Android OS? Any risk? Thx.
yes. by rooting u may be able to play some hd games..but by rooting. .there is a big risk of HARD BRICK BUG..u ll lose ur fone if that bricks..... and plus u lose ur warranty.... So rooting is not much appriciated on Note and S 2
Hi /\/€○†@/\/\e do you use ICS or gingerbread on your Galaxy Note atm?
yes..ics 4.0.4

sorry for my bad english.
sir.. just download the PDA file of the original indonesian firm ware n do the above procedure...there is no need of CSC file in case of downgrading
from the above link of Ginger bread 2.3.6 select N7000DXLA1 Indonesia
thank you for your respond. i will try stock rom that you recommend.

odin may b failing just becoz debugging mode may b on or kies may b running sumwhere in thr background...check that the kies is totally closed n usb debugging mode is unchecked...then ur device will surely b connected umin odin...then select the pda(original 2.3 6 from the region u bought the device and flash it.Hope this helps
Worked perfectly. Thanks.
Hi! So glad to find you in the web. i downloaded the firmware for Russia with only one file inside and Odin 1.85.
Passed Steps 1-3. And the odin status didn't change. Then I've read all the comments till the end. Deleted Kies totally, unchecked the usb debugging mode. And still Odin status is not becomes yellow. No changes at all. I rebooted my pc unpluged all the usb devices and tried again - nothing. Note says Downloading... Do not turn of the target... That is all. Please help me!
hi....first switch on ur note and check whether the usb mode is UNCHECKED or not..then....open task manager in ur pc and close any program related tl kies...then...finally after opening odin.... plug the fone...n hope fully it shud bcome yellow...
Perfect! Right after I heard that galaxy note is having hard brick bug on ICS I wanted to downgrade but all the tutorials available never made seance and I couldn't understand a bit!

I just bought a Samsung Note with ICS 4.0.3 ( Base Band Version : N7000XXLPT ) and ( Kernel Version : 3.0.15 - N 7000JPLPD - CL643396dpi@DELL173#3 SMP PREEMPT THU 31 KST 2012 ) ( BUILD NUMBER : IML74K.JPLPD)
I want to downgrade it to GB as the new ICS drains the battery soooo fast !!!
I read the above article and I want to know if it is safe and will not crash the phone ?
Thanks.
yes its completely safe :)
Thanks...I did it and it worked perfectly according to the steps above :)
will this void my warranty???
No Way....u r not rooting...u r just flashing
what us flashing...m totally new for it..i know wut rooting is...
the above process of downgrading or upgrading is knwn as flashing...but dont worry..u go ahead with the downgrade...it will not void ur warranty
fixed my battery problem (charging paused, voltage too high) problem with ICS. although got stuck at the samsung logo after flash, but clear cache and user data in recovery mode fixed the problem. easy to understand and straight forward guide. LIKE!
Hello all :)
I'm so glad I found this page. I just got my first android phone. It's Note GT-N7000. I bought it from some1 else and he put ICS 4.0.4 on it but i'm not happy with it so i want to put it back on GB. I downloaded GB for Slovenia region and Odin, i unchecked debugging and unistalled Kies but Odin still fails :( What can i do?
You can also contact me on ines.silverrose@gmail.com
try again the same process...as this never fails :)
Trying again now but i am stuck at flashing ... it's stuck on cache.img and the bar doesn't move ... hmmm
still?
Nah, it doesn't work for some reason. Sometimes it fails really fast, twice it got stuck on cache.img, then it got stuck on setup connection ... it just doesn't wanna work. I tried everything ... unistalling kies, turning off my antivirus and firewall, tried with usb debugg and without
i hope ur note is in downloading mode when ur using odin
It is :) Gives me the android sigh and down it says DOWNLOADING, don't turn the target off, or something like that
Hi. Im on ics 4.0.4 stock unrooted. I plan to root it for backing up then downgrade it to gingerbread 2.3.6 to factory reset then upgrade it to 4.0.4 again. Do i need to unroot it after i rooted it or can i downgrade it directly? And is my method safe?
Ur Note shud b UNROOTED to do this
Thanks Million!! This is really works on my Note.. :)
if i root will it trigger the brickbug in my Note? how about when i unroot it? thanks for your help :-)
Thank you Geeky Android -Ehhmad, this downgrade worked for us. The first several tries Odin failed to "Complete (write)", but with minor adjustment by enabling usb debugging, the process was able to "PASS".
Galaxy Note N7000 upgraded to stock ICS, Italian version
hello! 'm brasilheiro my name is Fabio!

/\/€○†@/\/\e
above question continued....
Should i change my galaxy note and switch to S3 or its okk using EMMC bug in it...
Hi,
I do not specifically know where my phone was originally purchased as I bought it online last year (December). I'm guessing Germany based on the Quick Start Guide included in the box (in German Language) what happens if I downgrade it whe wrong firmware? Is there any other way to find out like IMEI number? Please advise. Thanks.
yes u can do wipe cache user data... and its all a safe process 100 %
emmc bug is dangerous if ur device is rooted or having Cyanogen mod or any other UNOFFICIAL rom..but here we r using official ones..so no need to worry about that emmc bug ..i used my note for 7 months that too full load use...nothing happened..now m using note II.... if u r so keen to change ur device..i wud recommend note ii coz once u r used to bigger display of note..u wudnt like a smaller display of S3..and yes there are no emmc bug problems reported by s3 and note2
there is nothing rong...but the fact is..some apps like maps , gps etc wud function according to the firmware country .. but neverthe less its safe :)
no imei number doesnt help...but if the quick start guide was in german lang. go for german downgrade for the win
hope this helps
thnkz alot bro...u really helped alot to me n otherz..u n ur info are best...thnkz :)
Hello:

Hi, I'm currently locked into Vodafone in Portugal. Do you think I'll be able to downgrade like that, using Portugal(TPH) ROM? Mind you, it's a carrier phone and the ROM is not Vodafone specific, so I'm feeling a bit reluctant in doing this...
Thanks,
Paulo
Better check with the guys at Vodafone first
I tried this today. One thing I can say is that you're going to brick your phone.
First the downgrade seemed smooth, but finally the phone got errors , and errors, i couldn't set the phone into recovery mode and wipe. So i upgraded it again (there were still errors) and just until i kept pressing ok of errors by that time going into setting and reset the phone, the phone has reverted back ok. It took a lot of time to do this "being stupidly hoaxed downgrade "
upgrade ok but getting download more software getting slow..and when on wifi ....will be hang for a while..
My note is running on ics 4.0.4 rooted. Can i downgrade it without losting root access
